Firing your angry bird from the catapult at those green pigs has become a very addictive habit for millions of players and the characters are instantly recognisable. There’s even been talk of an Angry Birds movie!

John Lewis Christmas Advert 2010

Here’s the 2010 Christmas advert from John Lewis, published about week after the Marks & Spencer ad featuring Peter Kay.

I like this ad but I’m not sure I’d want our children to see it in case they ask “why are that mum and dad sneaking presents upstairs to hide in the loft?”. And is it just me or is it a bit too cold to leave the poor dog outside in his kennel when it’s supposed to be very cold and snowing?

The advert was filmed in Scotland - probably in the middle of summer – and the lyrics accompanying the ad are from Elton John’s ‘Your Song’, sung by Brit Award winner Ellie Goulding.

M&S Christmas advert with Peter Kay

Well done to Marks and Spencers (visit their gift shop) for creating an upbeat advert for their Christmas 2010 campaign. Featuring the crop of M&S models including Twiggy, Lisa Snowdon, Jamie Rednapp and Dannii Minogue the well-loved comedian Peter Kay also appears. The backing track is of course You Should Be Dancing by The Bee Gees. The advert will be shown for the first time tonight on TV during the break in Emmerdale.

Britannia Dog Doorstop
