20Q Game

20qThe 20Q electronic handheld game from Radica is a great, cheap gift. I know it’s good because we’ve got one!

It’s an electronic guessing game where you think of a thing and 20Q asks you 20 questions (hence the 20Q name!) in order to guess what you’re thinking of.

You answer to each question by simply pressing one of the buttons for unknown, yes, no, sometimes. If 20Q doesn’t guess right within 20 attempts it’ll have another 5 goes before it lets you win.

The questions 20Q asks might seem rather strange …it’ll ask you things like:

  • is it smaller than a loaf of bread?
  • is it bigger than a microwave?
  • does it bring joy to people?

Now, you’ll catch it out sometimes but often it’s surprisingly good at guessing ironing board, camel, diamond etc! It’s actually a fun educational toy for young children as it makes them think about how to describe an object – our kids love trying to beat it.

It’s small enough to plonk in your handbag or pocket and you can switch the sound on or off. Runs on two AAA batteries that seem to last ages. Widely available for around £10 from the likes of:

Morph Model

Morph modelMorph – Your Cheeky Plasticine Pal!

Along time ago I used sit in front of the television after school and watch Tony Hart present Take Art. But for me the star of the show was an animated Plasticine model called Morph. As the show went on Morph’s personality developed and he became quite a cheeky chap. In later years Morph acquired a friend named Chas who was more of a geezer than Morph.

The great news is that you can make your very own Morph with this uniquemorph gift boxmodel Morph set. Included in the set is a DVD by Morph creator Peter Lord, showing you how to go about modelling Morph in simple steps, so anyone can make their own pliable pal out of the generous blocks of Morph coloured Plasticine provided. For inspiration the DVD also contains 15 original Morph episodes.

There are also five Morph accessories in the set too including:

  • miniature skateboard
  • cricket bat
  • fake beard

The modelling Plasticine never dries out so your Morph can modelled, shaped and remade at a later time.  For budding Nick Park (of Aardman) fans why not try making a simple animated film and publishing it to youtube? So, where can you get your Morph kit? That’s easy …amazon!

Knife Block Man

knife block manHow about this for the most eye-catching knife block you’ve ever seen!

He’s called Voodoo and he’s actually an award winner from Italian design guru Raffaele Iannello. He’s available from Iwoot who have cheekily christened him as All Men Are B*stards!

It comes complete with a set of 5 stainless steel knives: a paring knife; bread knife; carving knife and a large and small chopping knife. Each of the five knives is held in place by a small magnet in the body, and the blades are protected at the rear by a frosted plastic sleeve.  Available to 18+ only and remember this is not a toy.
