The ad for comparison site Compare The Market featured a meerkat called Aleksandr Orlov and a spoof company called Compare The Meerkat. Despite being dreamed-up by two ad executives in a pub (honestly – but you’re not surprised are you?) and being rather daft, the meerkat has been a huge success.
The meerkat gift market is slowly catching up with the audience and there are now some meerkat toys, mugs and gifts available here and there. Gifts seem to be in short supply though and there are a couple of tacky ones knocking around, so if you want one, it’s nice and it’s in stock then you’d best snap it up. For some reason 30,000 of these USB apples are being made available over in the States, so that’s seems way out of kilter with the UK allocation. Oh, the price …it’s £200!

As Waitrose announce that they will soon be stocking aniseed balls from January next year, the Telegraph listed the top ten retro sweets that people apparently miss the most.
