I’m absolutely hopeless at wrapping gifts! Flat, square things like books and DVDs I can sort of manage, but anything other than that and I’m in big trouble. You do not want to see me wrap a bottle of wine or a mug …the end result isn’t pretty.
Of course you can buy gift bags, boxes and ribbons from the likes of Marks and Spencers – they can look great but then they add to the cost of your gift.
The how-to video site VideoJug has several videos relating to gift wrapping bottles, candles and generally awkward things. So if you any tips then you might want to take a look at those. Alternatively, ehow have some instructions on how to use wrapping paper neatly. Tape company 3M have also got some Christmas and gift wrapping tips.
My own tips include:
- don’t use cheap wrapping paper – it’s tears easily on sharp corners
- too much paper is just as much a problem as not enough
- have strips of cut-to-length tape ready
- use a clear work surface, clean it first then wipe dry before you start
How about you …what are your tips for smart gift wrapping?
