Ecotronic Mr Robot Head

mr robot headI remember seeing this great looking eco gift a few months and I’ve just stumbled upon it again.

It’s an Ecotronic Mr Robot Head and it’s an eco toy ‘cos it doesn’t need any batteries …you wind it up.

The objective of course is to very, very carefully move the coil from one end to the other without touching the wire …if you do it’ll buzz. A classic, fun toy with an eco twist for all the family. Available from leading department store chain House of Fraser.

Rubik 360 Puzzle

rubiks 360Rubik’s 360 is the latest, mind bending puzzle from the man that invented the worldwide smash hit the Rubik Cube.

As you can see we’ve gone from cubes to spheres with this latest brain teaser. I could never complete the cube so I wonder how I’ll get on with the 360?

How Does it Work?

The Rubik’s 360 is a clear plastic sphere with six coloured domes positioned around the circumference. Inside the outer sphere is another transparent sphere, inside this, a third sphere, containing 6 small coloured balls, with a hole in it, through which the small balls have to pass.

The object is to roll, shake, rattle, whatever the Rubik’s 360, so that the coloured balls pass through both inner spheres to the matching coloured dome on the outer sphere …then each one is locked into place.

Available to buy from John Lewis, Very and Hamleys.

Model VW Camper Van

model-vw-camperHere’s a great make-it-yourself model VW camper van that’ll be popular with boys of all ages. This design classic is a firm favourite and this easy to make model makes an ideal gift for around £8 – much cheaper and way more eco-friendly than a real one !

20Q Game

20qThe 20Q electronic handheld game from Radica is a great, cheap gift. I know it’s good because we’ve got one!

It’s an electronic guessing game where you think of a thing and 20Q asks you 20 questions (hence the 20Q name!) in order to guess what you’re thinking of.

You answer to each question by simply pressing one of the buttons for unknown, yes, no, sometimes. If 20Q doesn’t guess right within 20 attempts it’ll have another 5 goes before it lets you win.

The questions 20Q asks might seem rather strange …it’ll ask you things like:

  • is it smaller than a loaf of bread?
  • is it bigger than a microwave?
  • does it bring joy to people?

Now, you’ll catch it out sometimes but often it’s surprisingly good at guessing ironing board, camel, diamond etc! It’s actually a fun educational toy for young children as it makes them think about how to describe an object – our kids love trying to beat it.

It’s small enough to plonk in your handbag or pocket and you can switch the sound on or off. Runs on two AAA batteries that seem to last ages. Widely available for around £10 from the likes of:
