The Teasmade might be the object of many a joke but it’s brewing up a bit of a comeback!
Yep, after many a year in the doldrums, the Teasmade started to make a comeback a couple of years ago when John Lewis sold the Micromark Teasmade (like the one pictured) at the rate of one an hour in the run-up to Christmas.
The very first mass-produced version was made by Goblin back in 1933 when it cost the equivalent of £300. You can buy one today for under £50. At it’s most popular two million homes had a Teasmade …presumably nobody liked getting out of bed?
Whilst modern Teasmades are more efficient and reliable they still offer the same functionality that everyone wants:
- LCD alarm clock with analogue face
- ceramic pots
- 2 or 4 cup capacity
- radio
- integrated reading light
Fancy waking up in bed with something hot next to you in the morning? Well treat yourself or a loved one to a Teasmade
They’re selling quick and are sometimes out of stock (so if you want one, buy one) so try leading retailers such as:
